Thurman Lee Munson (June 7, 1947 August 2, 1979) spent his entire career with the New York Yankees (1969 - 1979) as a catcher. Munson died tragically at the age of 32 while attempting to land his personal airplane. He is the only Yankee ever to win the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Awards.
